2011!

So this year I have decided that instead of making a list of new year resolutions of things that I am going to give up I would make a list of things that I would achieve! Kicking off with completing the 100 World Best Bar list. This may have to be a two year project (kidney/liver failure)....but I'm thinking at least one a week of the London Bars!! So I'm kick starting with the following 3:

The Library/ The Gardening Room: Lanesborough Hotel Hyde Park Corner, London, SW1X 7TA
Mamounia Lounge: 37a Curzon Street, Mayfair , London, W1J 7TX
Brumus: Haymarket Hotel, 1 Suffolk Place, , London, SW1

Pictures and feedback will follow!!

Also hearing mixed reviews about Shaka Zulu, Camden so well worth a visit, if its anything like Gilgamesh am sure i will love it!

Best reads of 2010

OK ....so one of my challenges for 2010 was to really get into reading books again!! I must say since the days of A-Level English Literature my speed has slowed down somewhat! However these 2 were frank, fabulous and fierce written by two inspirational women!

Kelly Cultrone - If You Have to Cry, Go Outside
Kelly Cutrone, the straight-talking boss of Whitney and Lauren on "The Hills" and "The City", offers her inspirational career advice, life lessons, and thoughts on the new face of powerful femininity. Shocking, edgy, witty, and surprisingly spiritual, Kelly shares her hard-earned wisdom to empower and inspire a new generation of aspiring professionals and those simply wishing to reinvent themselves. Each chapter will cover one of Kelly's Rules, such as: Check Your Pre-Conceived Notions at the Door (aka Motherhood, Men, and the Nouveau American Dream); The Truth Hurts, but Is Necessary; If You have to Cry, Go Outside; and, How To Give Good Phone-the Importance of Non-Virtual Connection. Cutrone has been covered in places like "US Weekly", "In Touch", "New York Observer", "New York Post's Page 6", "New York Daily News", "Glamour", and WSJ.com. She's also a regular on sites like Gawker and Jossip.

Thoughts....
Kelly Cultrone defines the term fierce female and this book really brings that character to life. With her straight talking, life lessons and discussions on being a powerful woman this book is truely inspiring. Loved her in The Hills but this book shows her business sense aswell as her vulnerability. A MUST READ!! Also have become slightly glued to her new show 'Hell on Earth'.

Susanna S -Confessions of a City Girl

City Girl was watching when all the boys thought they were masters of the universe. She was there when they blew their bonuses on Lamborghinis and lap dancers. She was fighting for survival as they sent the country into the worst slump since the Great Depression. 'City Girl' was born when she arrived in London, and joined her first merchant bank in the boom days. She worked for old-school stockbrokers in the shadow of the Bank of England and competed against the bad-boy brokers of Canary Wharf. She worked with the super-rich hedge-fund managers in the sleek streets of Mayfair. She met, married and divorced her very own City Boy. She made and lost millions of pounds. She's seen it all, done it all and lived to tell the tale. Fresh from writing thelondonpaper's City Girl column, our heroine gives us the inside track on life in the financial capital of the world. This is her story. She's her to tell us what went wrong – and why the girls are the only ones who can put it right.

Thoughts....
This book had to so many similarities to the lifestyles that some of my male and female banker friends live but it really blows the lid on what really goes on from a straight talking femalebuilding her way up the career ladder.
